Director of Alumni Relations and Giving

POSITION - Director of Alumni Relations and Giving -  Year-Round (full time)

Austin Preparatory School, located in Reading, Massachusetts about 15 miles north of Boston, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Director of Alumni Relations and Giving.    Founded in 1961, Austin Prep is an independent co-ed Catholic school in the Augustinian tradition for students in grades 6-12.  There are 700+ students enrolled in the school.  The Director of Alumni Relations and Giving reports to the Assistant Headmaster of External Affairs and is responsible for keeping alumni and alumni families informed, engaged, and committed to the school and its financial support. S/he provides leadership for alumni programming, including fundraising, relationship building, program development, volunteer management, and actively involving alumni in the school community. 

Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree; 5+ years of experience in development and/or alumni relations and fundraising education, preferably in independent schools
  • Comfort with software programs, social media, and other technology
  • High-energy and enthusiastic about working in an academic atmosphere
  • Flexible and willing to work some evenings and/or weekends

Anticipated Opening: Technical Theater Coordinator and Middle School Technical Theater Teacher

POSITION - Anticipated Opening: Technical Theater Coordinator and Middle School Technical Theater Teacher -  Academic Year (full time)

Austin Prep, a Catholic independent school located in Reading, Massachusetts about 20 miles north of Boston invites nominations, expressions of interest, and applications for a full-time, flexible hours, Technical Theater Coordinator with teaching responsibilities beginning in the 2017-2018 academic year.

Some essential qualifications include:

  • Experience in theater arts, including technical theater, set design and construction, stage managing, lighting, sound, event planning and execution for theater, chorus, and dance performances
  • Experience in supporting school events (such as Masses, dances, ceremonies, speakers) providing lighting, music, sound, scenery, backstage management, support, and organization
  • Experience in the curricular design and coordination of student involvement in a Technical Theater/Event Production course
  • Demonstrated success in working with both Middle and Upper School learners
  • Ability to work cooperatively with faculty and members of the leadership team
  • A bachelor’s degree (a master’s degree is preferred)

Per Diem substitute teachers

Responsibilities include monitoring four 75-minute classes per day: take attendance, direct students’ completion of assignments left for them, maintain an atmosphere conducive to quiet individual or small group study as prescribed in the assignment, supervise students at special events during the school day such as Masses, pep rallies, or assemblies.

Assistant Director of Admissions

POSITION - Assistant Director of Admissions - Year-Round (full time)

Austin Preparatory School, located in Reading, Massachusetts about 15 miles north of Boston, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Director of Admissions. Founded in 1961, Austin Prep is an independent co-educational Catholic day school in the Augustinian tradition for students in grades 6-12.  There are 700+ students enrolled in the school. The Assistant Director is responsible for supporting all enrollment and communication initiatives: including the coordination of the prospective student outreach program, weekly admission newsletter, and daily operations of the Office of External Affairs. This candidate is expected to be involved in the extracurricular life of the school as well.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree; and 2-3 years of experience in admissions, communications, and/or marketing is preferred
  • Preference will be giving to candidates who have prior experience working in independent schools and those with knowledge of the Boston area market
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment is a must
  • A positive can-do attitude, attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal skills are essential in this role
  • Working some evenings and/or weekends are required, especially during the height of Admissions season (October-January)

Administrative Assistant

POSITION - Administrative Assistant Hourly, Full-Time, 12 months 

The Administrative Assistant to the Office of External Affairs will primarily support Admissions, but will also support Advancement & Alumni, Marketing, and Communications as needed.  We seek candidates who are self-starters, upbeat, outgoing, and have a positive can-do attitude.  Applicants must desire to be part of a community of learners that is student-centered. This position reports directly to the Assistant Headmaster for External Affairs with a dotted line to the Director of Admissions, and requires professional judgment, discretion, diplomacy, and confidentiality.

Skills and Knowledge 

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize work.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Works independently with minimum supervision.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
  • Proficiency with Veracross a plus.
  • Experienced in report writing and business correspondence.
  • Experience in Independent Schools a plus. 

Qualifications/Education:

College degree preferred, but not required.
