How do I submit an application?

Applications are submitted through the Admissions Portal. To create a Portal account, first you must submit the Inquiry Form (see the button on this page). After completing the form, you will receive instructions on creating an account. Through the Admissions Portal, you may also register for Open House, schedule a Shadow Day, register for entrance exams and complete your application. You can start and save your application at any point in the process, and also check the status.

How do I access the Admissions Portal?

Middle School

Do I need to take an Entrance Exam?

Yes, all applicants are required to submit scores from either the Austin Prep Middle School Entrance Exam, SSAT or the ISEE for admission consideration for Grades 6, 7 and 8. Upcoming MSEE exam dates are November 18th and December 2nd, from 8:00 am - 11:00 am. You may register for the MSEE through the Admissions Portal.

I am interested in repeating eighth grade at Austin Prep, should I take the Middle School Entrance Exam?

No, all eighth grade students – as well as all other grades, should test with their peers at the same level. Eighth-graders need to take the HSPT, SSAT or ISEE tests, even if they are considering repeating eighth grade.

How can I prepare for the test?

We suggest a good night’s sleep the night prior, and a good breakfast the day of the exam. Questions on the exam will be similar to other standardized tests you have taken. All answers are multiple choice.

What if I get hungry during the exam?

We provide a choice of snacks and water during a break half-way through the exam.

Do I need to interview as a part of the application process?

Middle School applicants do not need to interview. 

How much does the exam cost and how do I register?

There is a $30 Middle School Entrance Exam fee, payable by check on the day of the exam. You may register for the MSEE after completing the inquiry form. If you have already completed your inquiry form, you may login directly to the Admission Portal to register. 

Is there an application fee?

Yes, there is a $50 application fee for the Middle School.

How do I submit an application?

How do I know if my application is complete?

You may log in to the Admissions Portal and view your application to see if any items are missing from your application.

When is my application due?

December 21, 2016 is the Early Application deadline for the Middle School. Completed applications received after December 21st, will be reviewed as Rolling Admission applicants.

When will I find out if I am accepted?

Applications received by December 21st will receive admission notification byJanuary 20th. Rolling Admission applicants will be notified 2-4 weeks after completed application is received.

Does Austin Prep offer bus transportation?

There is currently a bus program for students who live in the Merrimack Valley. Please contact the Office of Admissions for details. The bus picks up students in Methuen, Lawrence, North Andover, and Andover.

Can I schedule a Shadow Day?

Yes, Shadow Days for Middle School students are on Tuesdays, starting in October. You may register for a Shadow Day after completing the inquiry form. If you have already completed your inquiry form, you may login directly to the Admission Portal to register.

What sports are available to Middle School Students?

Soccer (boys/girls), Basketball (boys/girls), Lacrosse (boys), and Softball(girls) have Middle School teams. Outdoor Track & Field (boys/girls), Cross Country (boys/girls), Swimming (boys/girls), and Indoor Track & Field (boys/girls) have teams open to all. Middle School students can try out for Junior Varsity and Varsity levels of Skiing (boys/girls), Soccer (boys/girls), Swimming (coed), Baseball (boys), Basketball (girls/boys), Cheerleading, Dance Team, Football, Golf, Ice Hockey(boys/girls), Lacrosse (girls), Tennis (boys/girls), Volleyball.

When are Austin Prep School vacations?

Austin Prep’s calendar year closely mirrors the public school calendar as far as winter and spring vacations.  

What is Cougar Block? 

Cougar Block is a 40-minute period each day at 10:43 am when students attend school-wide meetings, meet with their Advisors and participate in clubs and activities.

Upper School

Do I need to take a test to apply to Austin Prep?

Yes, Austin Prep requires that each applicant submit scores from one of three exams: the High School Placement Test (HSPT), Secondary School Assessment Test (SSAT) or the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE).

What is the HSPT?

HSPT stands for the High School Placement Test. This exam is administered and accepted at Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese of Boston.

Where and when can I take the HSPT?

There are four testing dates for the HSPT for admission to the 2017-2018 academic year: Austin Prep will be administering the test on two of those dates, Saturday November 19, 2016 and Saturday, December 3, 2016 from 8:00 am - 11:15 am. You may register for the HSPT by clicking the button to the right.

Is there a fee to take the HSPT?

Yes, there is a $30 registration fee to take the HSPT.

How do I send my scores from the HSPT to Austin Prep?

The HSPT allows each student to send his/her scores to five different high schools for no extra charge. Students can select these schools when they register for the exam. Scores will be sent directly from the testing service to the schools. Scores will also be sent home from the testing service.

Does Austin Prep offer financial aid?

Austin is committed to providing financial assistance to students whose families demonstrate a significant financial need as determined by FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment Service. 

Approximately 30% of Austin students receive some form of tuition assistance. Families who feel they are in need of financial assistance are encouraged to complete the FACTS application and submit all supporting documentation to FACTS beginning November 1, 2016 but no later than December 31, 2016. The link to Austin’s FACTS sign in page is: https://online.factsmgt.com/signin/3H73J. Late financial aid applications will be considered based on available funding.

Does Austin Prep offer sports scholarships?

No, all of Austin Prep’s scholarships are merit based.

How do I apply for a Merit Scholarship?

Any applicant that submits test scores to Austin Prep will be considered for merit scholarship. Austin offers a limited number of Academic Merit Scholarships to students entering the ninth grade based on their achievement on the HSPT, SSAT or ISEE. In addition to these renewable merit scholarships, the most qualified students, who score in the Top 5% National Percentile, will be considered for the St. Augustine Scholarship which may be up to 50% of tuition and is renewable each year.

When is the application deadline?

All materials for the Upper School applications are due at Austin Prep by December 21, 2016.

How do I know if my application is complete?

The status of the various items needed for a complete application can be checked by logging into to your Admissions Portal and viewing your application.

How and when do I find out if I was accepted to Austin Prep?

All complete applicants will receive decision notifications on or by February 1, 2017.

When do I find out about financial aid and scholarships?

All tuition assistance information will be mailed separately within two weeks of decision notifications. 

When do I have to notify Austin Prep of my decision?

The registration deadline is February 28, 2017 for the Upper School.

Is there bus transportation available?

Yes, there is currently a Merrimack Valley bus route in the morning and afternoon with a 5:00 pm school departure time. There are stops in Haverhill, Methuen, North Andover and Andover.

Does Austin Prep have Shadow Days?

Yes. Shadow Days are approximately every other Tuesday starting in October. You may register for a Shadow Day through the Admissions Portal.

Does Austin Prep accept transfer students?

Yes, we accept transfer students to Grades 6 through 11. Transfer applicants can submit the online application.

What is the Austin Prep uniform?

The Austin Prep uniform items can be purchased online at Land’s End. There are quite a few options for the uniform for both boys and girls. For more information about the Upper School uniform, please click here.

How do I submit an application?

In addition to the application, what else needs to be submitted to apply to Austin Prep?

In addition to the application and $50 application fee, all applicants are required to have both an English Teacher Recommendation Form and a Math Teacher Recommendation Form submitted by your teachers. A School Administrator/Transcript Release Form also needs to be submitted from the current principal or Guidance Counselor in addition to the transcripts. These forms may be submitted through the Admissions Portal, while the transcripts will be mailed directly to Austin Prep from your school. 

Is there an application fee?

Yes, there is an application fee for the Upper School of $50, payable online.

Do I need to purchase an iPad to attend Austin Prep?

All Austin Prep students are issued a school iPad prior to the start of school. There are no extra fees associated with receiving an iPad.

Can I use my own iPad?

Since the iPads are at no additional cost, we require each student to use the Austin Prep iPad for school work.

What other fees can I expect at Austin Prep?

There are no additional sports, technology, club or activity fees at Austin Prep. Each family is responsible for purchasing the uniform through LandsEnd.com and purchasing both textbooks and digital books for the iPads.
