The Honorable Daniel Loughry ’69 has accepted my invitation to be the commencement speaker for the Class of 2019. A skilled litigator and judge, Judge Loughry was a United States Administrative Law Judge, a post he held within the Social Security Administration from 1994 until his retirement in 2010.
Prior to his service as federal judge, Judge Loughry was the Director of Judicial Operations for United States Direct Court in the Massachusetts District from 1981-1988 and the Chief Deputy Clerk of the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit in Boston from 1988-1994. A 1973 graduate of Merrimack College, Loughry earned his law degree from Suffolk University in 1977. A native of Melrose, Judge Loughry currently resides in Nevada with his wife of 45 years, Lois. Though retired, Judge Loughry still travels the United States serving as a guest lecturer for various legal education programs.
