Mission, Inclusion, and Catholic Social Teaching

According to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), “Catholic social teaching is based on and inseparable from our understanding of human life and human dignity.  Every human being is created in the image of God and redeemed by Jesus Christ and therefore is invaluable and worthy of respect as a member of the human family.  Every person…has inherent dignity and a right to life consistent with that dignity.  Human dignity comes from God, not from any human quality or accomplishment.”[1

Austin Prep will continue to prioritize our attention and resources on promoting greater justice and inclusion.  As one example, we’ll be working again in partnership with Dr. Crystal Kuykendall, an accomplished educator, attorney, author, and recognized diversity expert to assist us this year.  Dr. Kuykendall visited campus during the summer and will be visiting from time to time during the academic year.

Austin Prep condemns bigotry, intolerance, prejudice, and racism in any form and our Catholic faith calls us to action to do all we can to foster greater respect and justice for all.   As we exemplify veritas, unitas, and caritas in our community and beyond, we are fulfilling the Lord’s commandment to “love one another as I have loved you.”
