Technology

At Austin Prep, our technology program equips students with the technical skills, critical thinking abilities, and innovative mindset needed for success in college and beyond. Through hands-on experience with a wide range of technology tools, students develop the confidence and competence to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world.

1:1 Device Program

During orientation, all Middle School students are provided with an iPad and Upper School students with a Macbook, maximizing opportunities for learning and classwork sharing anywhere, at any time. With these powerful tools, students can efficiently organize and complete their assignments and easily communicate with classmates and teachers throughout the school year.

Anatomage Table

Austin Prep’s Science Department proudly features the Anatomage Science Table, a state-of-the-art 8-foot touchscreen visualization system that revolutionizes science education. It features virtual dissections and in-depth anatomy exploration on a level previously reserved for medical school students.  Through its newest applications, the  Anatomage Science Table provides an immersive and realistic learning experience through virtual scientific experiments across all science classrooms in both middle and upper school. With stunning and detailed 3D simulations, this advanced technology is integrated into our biology, chemistry, and physics classrooms to explore concepts such as projectile motion, atomic structure, cellular function, and nuclear reactions. Additionally, it serves as a tangible introduction to advanced scientific topics for our middle school classrooms. It is able to gamify complex subjects, making the learning experience accessible and engaging for our youngest learners.

3D Printers

Our technology facilities include multiple Prusa 3D printers that support hands-on learning across disciplines. These printers enable students to learn CAD design skills and create physical models of their digital concepts. Students develop engineering skills through project-based learning in a variety of classes, including custom robotics parts, artifacts from the Civil War era, monuments inspired by period architecture, and prosthetic limbs.

Laser Cutting Technology

Austin Prep's commitment to cutting-edge technology extends to our professional-grade laser cutter. This versatile tool allows students to create precise cuts and engravings across various materials. The laser cutter designs and produces custom parts for robotics projects to strengthen students' skills in digital design and fabrication.

Competitive Robotic Team

Austin Prep's competitive robotics team challenges students to apply their technical knowledge in a competitive environment. They participate in the FIRST Tech Challenge. This annual competition gives students a unique opportunity to work together on a real-world engineering project, developing a robot to complete specific tasks while maintaining an engineering notebook that documents their progress and processes. Within the robotics team, students can choose roles that suit their interests and skills, from building the robot, strategizing task completion, software coding, incorporating sensors, and programming the robot for manual and autonomous functions.   Club members develop technical skills in engineering, coding, and problem-solving while also learning to use CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software to model custom parts for 3D printing. The club fosters teamwork, creativity, and strategic thinking, preparing students for STEM-related careers and future challenges. Whether experienced or new to robotics, all students are welcome to join and contribute to our exciting journey!
