Classes of 1970, 1971, and 1972 Reunite

On May 19-20, over 55 alumni from the classes of 1970, 1971, and 1972 and their guests were on campus to celebrate their 50th Reunion. The celebration kicked off Thursday evening with a reception, class photos and dinner hosted by Head of School, James Hickey, Ph.D. It was an especially moving gathering as Fr. Art Johnson, O.S.A., a founding father of Austin Prep, and Faculty Mentor Roger Stone joined those in attendance.
Over the course of the reunion, alumni participated in a Memorial Mass, tours with Green Key Student Ambassadors, lunch in the renovated dining hall, the procession for Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement, a gathering at Strega and a round of golf at Hillview Golf Club.
You can view photos from the reunion on Facebook here.
We look forward to celebrating the 50th Reunion for the Class of 1973 in May 2023!
Austin Prep Students are Successful Because of YOU

On April 7, Austin Prep held its 4th Annual Day of Giving, raising over $150,000 toward the overall goal for the 2021-2022 Annual Fund. This incredible accomplishment would not have been possible without the tremendous support of the Austin Prep community. We are especially grateful to our parents and alumni that initiated challenges to their peers to bolster participation.
The fiscal year is not over! We are counting on the whole community to help us reach our goal by June 30. Tuition covers the essentials, but an independent Catholic school’s ability to provide smaller class sizes and enriching programs is made possible by the resources provided by a robust annual fund.
If you have not yet participated in the 2021-2022 Annual Fund, please give a gift you are proud of today! Your gift is an investment in the extraordinary!

Class of 2022 | A Final Farewell

It has been almost a month since the Baccalaureate Liturgy and Commencement for the Class of 2022 and we miss the Class already! During Senior Week, the Senior Class gathered for a class photo, shown above with seniors in sweatshirts representing their college or university of choice. We wish them the best of luck as their journey continues as Austin Prep alumni!
34th Annual Austin Open Golf Tournament a Success

We were blessed with a beautiful day on Monday, May 23 for the 34th Annual Austin Open Golf Tournament, held at Indian Ridge Country Club. The event was a great success with a full flight of golfers!
The Annual Golf Tournament is vital in our efforts to continue to provide exceptional educational experiences for all our students. A special thank you to alumni families for their 2022 Title Sponsorships: Pimentel Construction and Quirk Construction Corp. This year's tournament raised over $85,000 and will support the creation of a multipurpose laboratory in our science wing which will be a best-in-class space for middle school and upper school science instruction.
If you have questions about future golf sponsorships and events, please contact Ms. Susan Belanger, Assistant Head for Administration, at sbelanger@austinprep.org.

Pat Driscoll '97, center, was recently named the Massachusetts Secondary Schools Athletic Directors Association (MSSADA) District 6 Athletic Director of the Year.
Class of 1997 alumnus and Director of Athletics Patrick Driscoll is the Massachusetts Secondary Schools Athletic Directors Association (MSSADA) District 6 Athletic Director of the Year.

"We are grateful for the leadership Mr. Driscoll provides our coaches and student-athletes as they pursue their goals in the classroom and on the fields of play." Dr. Hickey said. “We are very fortunate to have him as a member of our School community.”
National Honor Society Keynote Speaker: Colleen (Owens) Graham ’96

On April 26 66 students were inducted into Austin Prep's Chapter of the National Honor Society. Inductees were joined by family in the Chapel of St. Augustine. The program for the evening was shared with attendees.
National Honor Society member Patricia Bibeau '22 welcomed fellow members Jacqueline Plante '22, Jack Caruso '22, Liam Gildea '22 and Megan Silva '22, who reflected on the four pillars of NHS: character, service, scholarship, and leadership.
The evening closed with remarks from Colleen (Owens) Graham '96, who started at Austin Prep as a freshman in the fall of 1992 and graduated with the first group of female students. Graham is the Founder and CEO of Iridium Clinical, LLC serving as a Senior Clinical Operations Consultant. In the fall of 2022, Colleen’s journey will come full circle when her two oldest children begin their journeys at Austin Prep in the 6th and 8th grades. She was joined at the induction by her husband, Rick, also an Austin Prep graduate of 1996, her children Jaxson, Cooper and Sydney, and her mother Cynthia.

In the Classroom and Beyond
Student Augustinian Values Institute

This spring, an Austin Prep delegation spent a weekend at Villanova Prep in Ojai, California, for the Student Augustinian Values Institute (SAVI). While there, students examined our core values with students from other Augustinian schools. Our students returned home with an even greater understanding of our shared Augustinian values and a stronger appreciation of our school’s mission. Going forward, these students will begin implementing some of the ideas and takeaways from their time with our peer schools.
Eighth Graders Share Projects at Science Expo

From projects on solar and electric cars to wind turbines, water filtration, and greenhouse gas emissions, students in the Class of 2026 held a Science Expo in the Father Smith Library. During the third quarter, eighth graders explored concepts connected with sustainability and the environment, from pollution and emissions to reusable energy. Students developed research questions, conducted experiments, analyzed data, and drew conclusions as they made parallels to lessons learned in class. The Middle School Science Expo was an extension of the Middle School Strategic Plan for 2021-2026 and Austin Prep’s efforts to inspire and prepare students for experiences in science, technology, engineering, and math.
Austin Prep Freshmen Participate in Model UN Conference

The Class of 2025 simulated debates on Cold War crises during Austin Prep's first Model UN conference. Led by history faculty member Mr. Jon Whalen and facilitated by history faculty member Ms. Jess Swindell this exciting event was planned by the History Department. Students engaged in several weeks of extensive research and analysis. Students participated in ten crisis committees on events ranging from the Cuban Missile Crisis to the Falklands War. Debates were lively and the students worked hard to represent the perspective of their assigned nation. The History Department looks forward to hosting this event for many years to come!
