"Those Who Sing Pray Twice"
~ St. Augustine
The Austin Prep Choir explores a variety of musical styles, from contemporary selections to liturgical compositions. Students learn the basics of vocal technique as well as the advanced artistry of the experienced performer. Vocalists take part in productions throughout the school year, including holiday shows. The Austin Prep Band encourages students to expand their knowledge of musical instruments, focusing on instrumental tone quality, musical theory, and reading music.
Spring Band and Choir Concert

The annual Spring Band and Choir Concert showcases the musical achievements of both ensembles through a varied and engaging program. Held each spring, the concert features student musicians performing for families and the broader community, often at venues such as the Greater Boston Stage Company. This culminating performance highlights collaboration, creativity, and artistic growth.
Lessons and Carols

The annual Lessons and Carols celebration is a cherished Advent tradition that brings scripture and sacred music together. The service features multiple Scripture readings, congregational carols, and performances by student musicians, and is celebrated in Richard J. Meelia ’67 Hall as well as at St. Augustine Parish in Andover. Through this reflective liturgy, the Austin Prep community prepares hearts for the coming of Christ during the Advent season.
Schoolwide Liturgical Performances

Students regularly participate in schoolwide liturgical performances that bring the community together in worship and song. Choirs and student musicians provide sacred music for major celebrations including Convocation, Ash Wednesday, and Baccalaureate. These shared liturgical experiences connect faith, music, and tradition throughout the academic year.
Choir Travel Opportunities

Choir students have opportunities to participate in travel experiences that extend choral learning beyond the classroom. Most notably, students have performed in Rome, including at St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City, and in Ireland at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin. These immersive experiences combine musical excellence, faith, and cultural engagement on an international stage. Learn more about Rome.
