United Kingdom 2016

The Middle School at Austin Preparatory School is one of the few schools in the United States to be accepted into the Independent School Cultural Alliance (ISCA). ISCA is an international enrichment opportunity for Middle School students from across the globe to “study abroad” in England for three weeks over the summer. Our group arrived in early July for their overseas experience. They have captured their journey in this blog.

Harry Potter's Hogwarts and Oxford

On July 26th, we enjoyed another on-campus day with our new friends from the other schools. It ended with a fun "Milky Way Quiz" where we were tested on our memories of all the great places we'd visited while in England. Some of us won candy prizes! On the 27th, we split our time between two…

A Castle, a Coast and a City

To mark our first on-campus sports day, the ISCA staff awarded T-shirts to a couple of us for each sport played that day. We cheered on our two students who won awards: Charlie for tennis, and Lexi for rugby! On July 15th, we all visited Arundel Castle, the ancestral (and current) home of the Duke…

Our first impressions

The 12 of us and our chaperone, Ms. Samantha DiVito, arrived safe and sound in England in the early hours of Monday July 11. Despite being exhausted and jetlagged, we were all thrilled to finally arrive at the beautiful campus of Charterhouse School in Godalming. The group photo that we…
