Many of the lessons learned at Austin Prep are learned and taught outside of the classroom - on a service trip, at a class retreat, during club activities, on the athletic playing fields, or on stage.
Austin offers more than 60 clubs, most of which meet during our 40-minute Cougar Block on five days of our seven-day cycles. Several arts and technology clubs - such as Band, Chorus, Drama, Event Production Services, and Cougar Vision - meet after school.
This incredible array of clubs, some just for Middle School students, others uniquely for Upper School students, and still others in which both Middle and Upper School students can participate together, allows students to explore diverse interests and is a highlight of an Austin education. Extracurricular clubs range from Student Podcast Team to Yoga to Middle School Mini Hockey to Intramural Softball and Austin Service Club, whereas co-curricular clubs include Biology, Chemistry, and Physics Societies; French, Gaelic, Spanish, and Russian Clubs as well as Math Team and Middle School Math Team, to name just a few. There is something for everyone, and we add new clubs every year!
During club meetings faculty moderators share their gifts, talents, and interests with the students, who very often are inspired by the passion their teachers bring to their extracurricular and co-curricular offerings. Clubs are also an excellent way for students to get to know each other outside of the classroom setting and to meet other students who share the same interests and passions.
