Dean of Students

POSITION - Dean of Students Year-Round (full time) 

Austin Preparatory School, located in Reading, Massachusetts about 20 miles north of Boston, is seeking candidates for the position of Dean of Students beginning with the 2018-2019 academic year. Founded in 1961, Austin Prep is a Catholic independent co-ed school serving students in grades 6-12. Austin Prep has a talented faculty of approximately 75 that administers a challenging curriculum that prepares students well for success in high school and college. The Dean of Students reports to the Assistant Headmaster.

The Dean of Students provides significant leadership for the school community to promote the wellbeing of students during their years at Austin Prep. The Dean of Students will have an opportunity to work with a dynamic and innovative leadership team that is focused on advancing the school’s mission, which is rooted in the tradition of St. Augustine. Student Activities Coordinator

POSITION - Student Activities Coordinator

Austin Prep, a Catholic independent school located in Reading, Massachusetts about 15 miles north of Boston invites nominations, expressions of interest, and applications for a Student Activities Coordinator beginning in the 2018-2019 academic year. This position works closely with the Dean of Students and is responsible for organizing and executing much of what the students do beyond the classroom, in the arts, or in athletics. The Student Activities Coordinator is the number one cheerleader at Austin Prep and plays a significant role in cultivating school spirit. The Student Activities Coordinator reports to the Dean of Students. 

Some essential responsibilities include:

  • Serve as faculty advisor to the Austin Prep Student Government
  • Coordinate elections for class and school officers
  • Help members of Student Government to run Community and Class Meetings
  • Organize activities within a seven-day rotating block schedule
  • Provide administrative support for faculty in the management, budgeting, and scheduling of student clubs
  • Organize and attend on-campus events: US and MS dances, Day of Service, etc.
  • Organize and attend off-campus events: Prom, capstone class trips, etc.
  • Work with Student Council to organize and run pep rallies and spirit weeks
  • Organize all-school and class assembly programs
  • Work with Class Deans, Advisors, and Dean of Students to strengthen student experience
  • Teach two sections

School Store Manager

POSITION - School Store Manager Year-Round (full time)

Austin Preparatory School seeks a School Store Manager who has the experience and personality to grow school store sales and actively promote the Austin Prep brand.  The successful candidate must have strong communication and organizational skills.  Experience in a retail environment and a proven entrepreneurial ability are required.  Managing the in-school store and virtual store, the School Store Manager works closely with Austin Prep’s Department of Athletics in providing the accessibility to a wide array of gear while assisting in the outfitting of team sports, fans and the Austin Prep Community.

Director of Annual Giving

POSITION – Director of Annual Giving -  Year-Round (full time) 

Austin Preparatory School, located in Reading, Massachusetts about 15 miles north of Boston, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Director of Annual Giving. Founded in 1961, Austin Prep is an independent co-ed Catholic school in the Augustinian tradition for students in grades 6-12. There are 740 students enrolled in the school. The Director of Annual Giving reports to the Assistant Headmaster for External Affairs and is responsible for the strategic execution and management of a comprehensive annual giving program, including the coordination and oversight of supporting initiatives in the areas of development and donor relations. S/he provides strategic direction and long-range/short-range planning for all these areas in the context of growing the annual giving program while supporting the greater development and campaign goals of the school. 

Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree; 5+ years of experience in development and fundraising education, preferably in independent schools
  • Excellent skill and understanding of computer and constituent software required.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Flexible and willing to work evenings and/or weekends as required.

Austin Prep seeks a responsible, proactive Director of Facilities and Operations to manage the upkeep of buildings and grounds, and to support the number of projects associated with our progress on the Austin Prep Campus. The successful candidate will be a proactive, organized, hands-on department leader who has an established appreciation for aesthetics, solid experience in managing staff and vendor relationships and a keen awareness for responsibly providing a safe and functional campus for students, faculty, staff and the wider Austin Prep community. Construction and/or engineering experience is a plus. A competitive salary will be offered based upon experience.

S/he provides leadership for alumni programming, including fundraising, relationship building, program development, volunteer management, and actively involving alumni in the school community. 

Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree; 5+ years of experience in development and/or alumni relations and fundraising education, preferably in independent schools
  • Comfort with software programs, social media, and other technology
  • High-energy and enthusiastic about working in an academic atmosphere
  • Flexible and willing to work some evenings and/or weekends

Per Diem substitute teachers

Responsibilities include monitoring four 75-minute classes per day: take attendance, direct students’ completion of assignments left for them, maintain an atmosphere conducive to quiet individual or small group study as prescribed in the assignment, supervise students at special events during the school day such as Masses, pep rallies, or assemblies.
