Per Diem substitute teachers

Responsibilities include monitoring four 75-minute classes per day: take attendance, direct students’ completion of assignments left for them, maintain an atmosphere conducive to quiet individual or small group study as prescribed in the assignment, supervise students at special events during the school day such as Masses, pep rallies, or assemblies.

Director of Annual Giving

The Director of Annual Giving reports to the Assistant Headmaster of External Affairs and is responsible for the strategic execution and management of a comprehensive annual giving program, including the coordination and oversight of supporting initiatives in the areas of development and donor relations.  S/he provides strategic direction and long-range/short-range planning for all these areas in the context of growing the annual giving program while supporting the greater development, and campaign goals of the school.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree; 5+ years of experience in development and fundraising education, preferably in independent schools
  • Excellent skill and understanding of computer and constituent software required.
  •  Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Flexible and willing to work evenings and/or weekends as required.

College Counselor

The College Counselor will join an office of four including two other college counselors and a Director of College Counseling.

The person in this position will oversee a caseload of 35-40 students in the sophomore, junior and senior classes. They will be responsible for meeting both with the student and families, creating college application lists, assisting with essay and interview preparation, writing strong letters of recommendations, and other duties as assigned within the college process. They will also be responsible for teaching 2-3 sections of our college prep course, which runs during the second semester of a student’s junior year.

The applicant is also responsible for maintaining working relationships with college admissions professionals; visiting college and university campuses on a regular basis; maintaining familiarity with important programs and issues in the admissions and college counseling fields; representing the School at meetings and conferences of professional associations; and assisting in the organization of various annual events, such as college fair, financial aid and mock admissions programming for students and their parents.  

The applicant will also serve as an advisor within the school community, overseeing a group of 10-12 Upper School students. The advisor will serve as the main contact for the student and their family for all matters regarding their success as Austin Prep. They will also meet with the advisory four times per week.

The successful applicant will have at least a bachelor’s degree in a related field (master’s preferred); and at least 3-5 years of experience in college counseling or college admission administration; experience with financial aid, merit scholarships, educational testings, summer programs, and/or year-off programs desired.  Additional qualifications include excellent written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills that include a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within the framework of Austin Preparatory School’s mission and identity. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Naviance, and Google products preferred.  Some weekend and evening work required.

Upper School History Teacher - Full Time

Austin Preparatory School, located in Reading, Massachusetts about 15 miles north of Boston, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Upper School History Teacher. Founded in 1961, Austin Prep is an independent co-educational Catholic day school in the Augustinian tradition for students in grades 6-12.  There are 700+ students enrolled in the school. This candidate is expected to be versed in best practices of Upper School pedagogy and familiar with expectations of an Independent School. The candidate is expected to also be involved and invested in the extracurricular life of the school and willing to run the Model UN student group.

Qualification Requirements:

Four-year college degree in subject matter is required and experience working with Upper School students is preferred. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in non-Western history.
