One of the primary goals of the faculty at Austin Preparatory School is to guide our students and to encourage them to reach their full potential with respect for their individual gifts and talents. Within the academic program, we offer a vigorous, liberal arts focused curriculum that will help students to be responsible for themselves and their achievements, to work with others and appreciate the value of shared success, to challenge themselves to attain their maximum academic potential and to prepare them for further education in college and beyond.
Educating the Whole Student
An important part of the Austin Prep Journey is building the skills, confidence and expectations in students that enable them to be successful in college and beyond.
One of the ways this is done is through experiential learning - gaining knowledge, skills and values from direct experiences outside of a traditional academic setting.
Every year, our seniors, freshmen and sixth-graders each spend a day at Project Adventure in Beverly, MA, working together to experience and apply critical social and emotional skills.
The classes team up into small groups to overcome obstacles, all while learning the importance of teamwork and developing leadership skills.
Students also have an opportunity outside of school to make new friends and get to know one another in a Challenge by Choice setting - a safe and supportive environment where participants are asked to search for opportunities to stretch and grow during the experience. It recognizes the need for individuals and the group to accept responsibility for decisions.
