For the second year, our Model United Nations Club has been invited to take part in the Harvard University Model United Nations Conference next weekend.
Only 120 schools are invited to participate, with invitations extended to schools across the globe as far away as India, said Mr. Ted Williams, History Faculty and club moderator. Austin Prep’s Model UN Club was founded last year.
Our students are representing the nation of Iceland. Two, Domenic Caturello ’18 and Matthew Fish ’20, have been assigned to special committees. Matthew is tackling welfare reform in China and Domenic is dealing with corruption within the Latvian Parliament.
Our delegation consists of Anthony Bundock ’18, Domenic Caturello ’18, Sana Nadkarni ’18, Garett Ruping ’18, Spencer Casey ’19, Casey Chabra ’19, Victoria DaSilva ’19, Nick Gilmore ’19, Cortney Hannula ’19, Laura Makary ’19, Maggie Peterson ’19, Catherine Rose ’19, Crystal Zhao ’19, Matthew Deeble ’20, Matthew Fish ’20, and Jeremy Levine ’20.
The conference runs from Thursday, January 25th to Sunday, January 28th and has expanded to several venues: the Sheraton Boston Hotel, the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center, and the Marriott Copley Place. There is time set aside during the conference’s packed schedule for tours of Harvard’s Cambridge campus.
