Advisory Program
At Austin Prep, our advisory program is a cornerstone of student growth and achievement. Rooted in the belief that education extends beyond the classroom, the program ensures that every student is known, supported, and guided by a trusted mentor throughout their Middle and Upper School journey. Advisors serve as daily touchpoints for students—helping them navigate academic challenges, develop social and emotional intelligence, and make thoughtful, values-based decisions.
Through consistent and meaningful interactions with faculty, students build confidence, cultivate self-awareness, and grow into compassionate, self-directed learners. Grounded in our Augustinian values, the advisory program provides the emotional and social foundation for long-term academic and personal success.
Academic Advocates
Advisors are important academic advocates. They receive regular updates on student progress and serve as both cheerleaders and challengers—celebrating achievements, helping students set goals, and offering encouragement or support when needed most. Whether guiding a conversation, offering a listening ear, or helping navigate a tough decision, the advisor is a trusted presence committed to each student’s full formation—mind, heart, and spirit.
Advisory Traditions and Community
Advisory at Austin Prep functions like a family within the larger school community. Each advisory group becomes a close-knit circle where students feel known, celebrated, and supported. Advisors mark birthdays with small celebrations, lead fun traditions like door decorating contests, and guide their groups in meaningful service, such as sponsoring families in need during the holiday season. Advisory groups also come together in moments of reflection and faith. At schoolwide Masses, students sit with their advisors and advisory groups—deepening spiritual bonds and reinforcing the unity that defines our Augustinian mission. These shared experiences foster belonging, joy, and a sense of purpose.
