Uniform Guidelines
Austin Prep uniform guidelines reflect our commitment to a respectful, unified school community and help students present themselves in a manner consistent with the standards and traditions of the School. The guidelines provide clear expectations for Chapel Dress, daily uniforms, seasonal options, and approved footwear.
Families should review this information below for the requirements specific to Middle School and Upper School students.
Middle School Uniform Guidelines
Chapel Dress Uniform
Items from the Chapel Dress Uniform may be worn throughout the entire school year.
Please note: Sneakers are not permitted on days when Chapel Dress is required.
Girls Uniform
Required from Lands’ End
- Blouse: White with the Austin Prep shield.
- Skort: Black. Solid black leggings or tights may be worn with the skort.
- Pants: Khaki with the Austin Prep shield.
Legacy Uniform Option
Returning students may continue to wear the girls’ plaid skirt as a legacy uniform option. The skirt must be worn with leggings.
Shoes
- Sperry Women’s Bluefish in Linen.
- Sperry Women’s Angelfish Boat Shoe in Tan.
Additional Items
The following items may be purchased from any retailer:
- Belt: Solid black or solid brown without embellishments or patterns. A belt is required with pants.
- Leggings: Solid black without embellishments or patterns.
- Tights: Solid black without embellishments or patterns.
- Socks: Solid black or solid white knee socks or ankle socks.
Optional Layers
- Uniform Sweater or Uniform Fleece from Lands’ End.
- Quarter-zip from the Austin Prep School Store. Polos, blouses, and dress shirts must remain visible when wearing a quarter-zip.
Boys Uniform
Required from Lands’ End
- Dress Shirt: White with the Austin Prep shield. A tie is required with dress shirts.
- Tie: Uniform-approved tie.
- Pants: Khaki with the Austin Prep shield.

- Sperry Authentic Original Boat Shoe in Brown/Tan.

Please note: Warm Weather Uniform items, including approved sneakers, are not permitted on days when Chapel Dress is required. L.L.Bean Boat Mocs or Sperry Boat Shoes remain required footwear on all Chapel Dress days.

Warm Weather Uniform days are determined by Austin Prep. In addition to the year-round uniform items listed above, the following options are permitted on designated Warm Weather Uniform days.

The following guidelines outline approved layering options and items that are permitted as part of the Austin Prep uniform.

The uniform shirt must remain visible when an approved layer is worn.
Not Permitted as Layering Options
The following items are not permitted as layering options, even when they feature Austin Prep branding:
- Crewneck sweatshirts
- Hooded sweatshirts, including Austin Prep-branded hoodies
- Jackets
- Rugby shirts
Other Non-Approved Items
- Non-natural hair colors
